What do we do?
The specialist skin service is designed to provide facilities and equipment for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of skin disease in a modern, clean environment closer to home.
We offer both a dermatology and minor surgery service at the clinic. We offer minor surgery, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy and a photography service for watching lesions such as moles.
Our service is in an accessible location at One Life in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, and has free car parking. Our aim is to always have short waiting times and always be able to see patients urgently within two weeks of the referral.
Who do we work with?
We see people of any age, male and female for the dermatology side of the service and patients over the age of ten for the minor surgery service.
Interpreting services are also offered. We have close links with secondary care and also work with neighbouring primary care trusts.
We are a team of three GPs specialising in dermatology, one GP specialising in minor surgery, clinical lead nurse, dermatology nurse, theatre scrub nurse and a healthcare assistant.
The team is supported by a team of administrators. The specialist skin service also receives mentorship from both plastic surgery and dermatology at The James Cook University Hospital.
What happens during the appointment?
A full history of your skin condition will be taken and treatment options discussed with you.
We do offer a see and treat service for minor surgery, so expect to have your surgery that day if you are referred to the minor surgery part of the service.
