The department of oral and maxillofacial surgery is situated near the south entrance at James Cook. It is a new and spacious department providing home to maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and their supporting services; including dental technicians.
About oral and maxillofacial surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery (‘maxillo’ refers to the jaws) is a branch of surgery with roots in medicine and dentistry and which deals with diseases of the mouth, jaws and face and important structures in the area such as the salivary glands and the temporomandibular (jaw) joints.

Our specialists
Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons have a dental surgical (FDS) as well as medical surgical (FRCS) qualifications (so called doubly qualified) together with the appropriate postgraduate professional surgical qualifications (fellowship of one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons).
