The trusts, which operate as a group model called University Hospitals Tees, are reminding everyone that the last date to stand for election is Tuesday 15 October.
Professor Derek Bell OBE, group chair University Hospitals Tees, said:
What does a governor do? In short, they play an essential role in the development of their local health services. Governors not only represent the local community and share their views, they also advise the board of directors, attend meetings and help plan for the future.
“We want our governors to reflect the community we serve and are hoping to see people from all walks of life stand for election and make their voices heard.”
Governors are elected from within each trust’s membership. NHS trust membership is free, easy to join and includes access to exclusive NHS discounts.
Professor Derek Bell continued: “Becoming a governor is a rewarding experience. Governors stand for their community and do their bit to improve the health care of thousands of people.”
